Burnley’s Zeki Amdouni Back in Training
Zeki Amdouni, who recently returned from representing Switzerland at the World Cup, is now back with his Burnley teammates. Despite having been away for three weeks due to FIFA mandates, Amdouni has shown a positive mindset and good physical condition during his first training session.
Manager Nicky Hayen confirmed that Amdouni trained well today and is in contention to feature against Notts County on Saturday. 'He came in with a really good mindset, really in a good shape so he had a really good session today,' said Hayen, adding that the player's performance could see him included in the squad for the upcoming match.
Other Squad Updates
Hayen also provided updates on other players. Connor Roberts, who missed the last two pre-season friendlies with a knock, is expected to be available against Notts County. The manager mentioned that Roberts' absence from the Torino game was precautionary and not due to any serious injury.
However, some players remain out of action for now. Jordan Beyer and Josh Cullen are still long-term concerns, while Jaydon Banel faces a recovery period of many weeks after an injury sustained in training.
Hayen expressed his determination to secure the first win for Burnley since February, stating that the team's pre-season performance was unsatisfactory. 'We had a pre-season where we didn't win one game, so this is actually something that we really want to change,' he said. Despite acknowledging areas needing improvement, Hayen highlighted the players' commitment and progress as positive developments.
The upcoming match against Notts County will be crucial for both teams, with Burnley aiming to start their season on a winning note.
