Notts County have signed midfielder Max Sanders from Crewe Alexandra on a two-year deal. The 27-year-old joins the Magpies after turning down a new contract at Crewe.

What happened?

Max Sanders was among seven players considering fresh terms with the League Two side, but now moves up a division with the Magpies on a free transfer after two seasons at Mornflake Stadium.

Why it matters for Notts County

Sanders has plenty of pedigree and experience, while also being in his prime years, according to Notts director of football Richard Montague. He returns to the third tier with a Notts side that won promotion with victory over Salford City in the League Two play-off final in May.

What comes next?

Sanders' deal with the Magpies also includes an additional 12-month option. He made 86 appearances, including 37 in the league last term, and scored three times - all in 2025-26 as the club finished 11th.
