Martin Paterson has signed a new contract to remain as Notts County head coach until the summer of 2029. The 39-year-old former striker, who took charge in June 2025, has been rewarded for guiding the club back to League One and overseeing a solid start to the current campaign.
Owners Chris and Alex Reedtz praised the coach's impact since his arrival. "We've established an excellent working relationship with Martin, who is a very strong head coach," they said. "He's implemented an ambitious culture within the football department and is careful in his approach to training and match preparation."
Paterson's side currently sit 16th in League One with seven points from their opening six matches. Their most recent outing was a 1-0 home defeat to Bradford City, which ended a long unbeaten league run dating back to April. The team's fixtures show a home game against Wycombe Wanderers next, while fans can review the full squad Paterson will continue to work with. The new deal provides stability as the club looks to consolidate its position in the third tier.
The club confirmed the new contract on Friday, September 18. Martin Paterson said, "It's a privilege to lead this club forward." Notts County, who have scored and conceded seven goals this season, next face Reading away on September 19.
